Intro to Google Refund Claims:

ClickCease's service is focused on the prevention of fraudulent clicks, before they are counted by Google ads or Facebook ads by never showing your ads to those malicious intent users. Some clicks can still be counted by Google's algorithm as valid when they come from IPs that you determined to truly have fraudulent behavior, like competitors trying to exhaust your budget.

In order to block your ads from showing to suspicious sources, we do need to enable and analyze the first click and see where it’s coming from. For example, the first click might be from an invalid user and will be blocked in the future, as the 2nd click, but Google might not see this first click as invalid.

Starting April 2020 Google only allows a refund claim to be submitted by the Google ads account owner but Google does accept reports from external resources.

What Information is Provided in the Refund Claims Excel Report?

The file includes the following sheets:

  • Web logs: The full clicks report of all of the IPs that clicked on your ads, including

    • IP address: The IP Address of the clicker on your ads.

    • Requested URL: The URL of the landing page which the clicker arrived on after clicking on your ads.

    • Date & Time- The date and time of the click.

    • User Agent & Source port: Both columns provide information regarding the user's machine. It helps identify the specific machine used in cases of click fraud. For a more in-depth explanation, click here.

    • Operating system: The operating system used by the device when clicking on your ads.

    • Browser: The browser used by the device when clicking on your ads.

    • Campaign ID: Google allocates a unique ID to each campaign. This is the ID we display in your reports.

    • Country: The country of origin which we tracked the click back to.

    • City: The city of origin which we tracked the click back to.

    • Zip code: The zip code of origin which we tracked the click back to.

    • ISP: The Internet Service Provider which allocated the IP address to the device.

  • IPs by number of clicks: List of the IPs that clicked on your ads, sorted by the total number of clicks per IP address, first and last click, operating system and browser used, device ID, campaign name, requested URL, detection status, conversion status, blockage status, and block reason.

  • IP ranges ordered by total clicks: The detected IP ranges sorted by the total ad clicks vs. the number of IP addresses used within each range.

  • Devices by number of IPs they were using: The detected devices sorted by their assigned ID, the IP addresses used, and the date & time clicked on your ad.

How to Submit a Claim For a Google Refund:

The CSV file we provide has all the logs Google needs to analyze for a refund request and as mentioned - Google is the final decision maker in this process.

To download the report, log in to your dashboard, and go to: Tools --> Apply for Google Refund.

There, select the desired clicks' report date range and click on Download Full Clicks Report. The file with all of your clicks data will be sent to your email.
